Are You On Track to Purchase?

If buying a home in 2024 was on your New Year’s resolutions list, it is my job to keep you on track to accomplish your dream. By now there are at least five items that should be checked off your list. It is okay if you are still working on one or two of the items because some may take longer than others to accomplish. Time has a way of getting away from us, so look at the list, evaluate where you are, and take the steps to move forward. Have you…?

• Pulled Your Credit – The first step in preparing to purchase a home is knowing where you stand credit-wise. Pull your credit report and make sure that all the information is accurate. Address any inaccuracies or irrelevant entries. Check your credit score. Aim for a score of 640 or higher.

• Sign Up for the Supreme Lending Financial Program –  In a previous newsletter, I introduced you to an exciting credit and budgeting program offered by Supreme Lending. After this online course, you are eligible to receive $1,000 towards your home purchase. A link for this course is at the end of this newsletter. Don’t worry - there is no obligation to use Supreme Lending and the information is valuable.

• Set Up Your Budget – An important financial move is establishing a realistic budget and sticking to it. Once you have outlined all your income and expenses, you will be in a better position to know how you can afford in a new home.

• Establish a Savings Plan – Saving to purchase a home can seem like a daunting task. You must have sufficient funds to cover your down payment, closing costs, inspections, etc. Establish a savings plan and stick to it.

• Begin to Research Areas to Live – Metro Atlanta is comprised of over 12 counties with countless neighborhoods and subdivisions. Take this time to narrow down your preferred areas. This will give you a great starting point as it relates to home prices, style of homes, community amenities, etc.
